The CeraPUR® sealing materials are solvent-free and very fast cross-linking single-component elastomers. They are mechanically foamed, processed at room temperature in a standard room atmosphere and enable the efficient, environmentally friendly and reliable application of foamed seals – without the well-known problems such as the pot life, rinsing, test shots or the search for the right mixing ratio. During the foaming process, gas pores – the cells of the PUR foam – develop in the raw material. The higher the share of closed cells, the less moisture can penetrate. Due to the purely physical foaming process and clever combination of raw materials, CeraPUR® foam beads exhibit predominantly closed-cell structures and outstanding hydrolysis
resistance after curing. CeraPUR® is also extremely tear-resistant. A decisive advantage not only during installation, but also in terms of tightness. During the foaming process, gas pores – the cells of the PUR foam – develop in the raw material. The higher the share of closed cells, the less moisture can penetrate. Due to the purely physical foaming process of the CeraPUR® materials, the vast majority of the foam cells formed are closed foam cells. This outstanding property results in a low level of water absorption.
In practice, it is not unusual for the soft foam bead to become damaged when a component is being installed. The more tear-resistant the PUR foam, the less often such damage occurs. An innovative manufacturing process of the base polymers contained in CeraPUR® guarantees this property and makes a decisive contribution to tightness.
