NVH & Sealing concerns solved… with no investment?!

Leamington Spa, 14 May 2014. When a vehicle is in motion, its component parts are subject to dynamic forces. These forces result in movement or friction between mating surfaces and this in turn leads to noise. Specialists refer to this as NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) characteristic. Inside a vehicle cabin you find the greatest diversity and number of assembled body parts. Therefore, this is an NVH critical area. Creaking center consoles or dashboards or chattering glove box covers are just two examples of many NVH problems which can occur.  Using a single-component foam material on these types of parts creates compressible foam cushions which permanently prevent noise.

And this is not the only reason for choosing the 1K foam application technology: One other big challenge for a sealing system is to protect against moisture and humidity. A lot of parts in our daily life have to remain water-tight even in special situations. CeraCon have been manufacturing 1K Foam Application Systems for a wide range of industry for over 13 years. Although CeraCon’s foam application technology is relevant to all industry types, from white goods to electronics, its most significant impact has been within the European Automotive industry. The UK team does not only give machine support, but they also specialized in offering a Contract Gasket Service to apply foam seals directly to customer parts. The materials used for applying foam beads are single-component Penguin-Foam® systems. They are solvent-free and rapidly cross-linking single-component elastomers which generate micro-fine closed-cell foams. This means that the foam structure comprises of millions of individual air bubbles. Upon application to the component there will be a uniform foam structure. Consequently, moisture and humidity cannot penetrate the encapsulated foam structure - even with a damaged foam bead surface. This is an essential factor for the requirements of the industry. Especially the electrical and the automotive industry have got lots of applications which are predominantly concerned with exclusion of air, dust, gas and/or water or other liquids....
